A number of manufacturing management tools, such as CIM, CAD, CAM, benchmarking, etc., are being used internationally. Respondents were asked to rate these tools on a five-point scale in terms of their perceived usability, according to the following scores.
The one tool which made it well past the threshold mean score 3 was Total Quality Management (TQM) closely followed by Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) (Figure 6.5). Interestingly, Indian managers seemed to be very hesitant to admit that they were not aware of some tools. Very few managers ticked I against any tool.
