The purchasing dept. is assigned the procurement job for required quantities of materials by selecting suppliers and issuing purchase orders.
(iii) Receipt of Materials:
Receiving and controlling materials safely and good condition for further use.
(iv) Inventory Storage and Stores Control:
It keeps detailed and up-to date record of inventory on the basis of production requirement of materials. It is also responsible for non-productive stores of items like stationary, paper and other perishable goods.
(v) Standardization, Simplification and Value Analysis:
These are applied for improving the efficiency and decreasing the total costs.
(vi) Traffic:
It is the control of inbound shipments of purchased materials and out-bound shipments of finished products to consumers in the market.
