The nominal group technique is a structured decision making method that combines individual thinking with group discussion. Members first think independently and write their ideas silently. Later, each member shares one idea at a time while the facilitator records them. There is no debate in the beginning to avoid dominance and pressure. After all ideas are listed, the group discusses each point for clarity. Members then rank the ideas privately, and the results are added to identify the most preferred option. This method ensures equal participation and prevents strong personalities from controlling the discussion. It is useful for serious decisions that require fairness and clarity.
